Auckland
The Auckland region is one of N.Z’s smallest geographic regions but is also the most populated and culturally diverse. This region is flanked to the west by the Kaipara and Manukau harbors and to the east by the Hauraki Gulf. There are many great beaches in the Auckland region especially Piha and Muriwai Beaches on the west coast which are great for surfing. There are 49 volcanoes dotted around the Auckland region the last one to erupt was 600 years ago and formed Rangitoto Island.Auckland city is the largest city in Polynesia and offers a multitude of shops, markets, casinos, activities and nightlife. Auckland city is known as the city of sails as it is surrounded by water and has many marinas housing thousands of sailing boats. The sky tower overlooks the harbor and has a revolving restaurant as well as beautiful views of the city. Diving at Goat Island marine reserve is also amazing vas you can get a good close up look of snapper and crayfish in the wild. Kelly Tarlton’s Antarctic Encounter and Underwater World is also worth a look if you like getting up close to marine species without getting wet. The Rainbows End theme park in Manukau is also quality entertainment with a wide variety of rides and activities.
